Progressive Customer Reviews
Progressive Corporation sells auto insurance and a host of other types of coverage. They began selling policies in 1937 and now serve over 10 million customers. Progressive is known for their innovative direct selling to consumers. Their website is one of the best car insurance websites I’ve seen.
But, just because they have a great website, doesn’t mean they have a great product. If you have Progressive car insurance, then tell others about your experience – good or bad.

I’ve been a happy Progressive customer since 2000. I originally signed up because their online presence was more refined and easier than the other major insurance companies at the time. Their prices were competitive at the time, but I have not compared recently.
I had one accident in 2003 that was my fault. My car was totaled and the other car was nearly totaled. Progressive was wonderful. They were responsive and answered all my questions. I got a check for my totaled car the next day. My rates did not go up significantly. They handled the other driver’s claim against me completely, I didn’t have to do anything.
A couple times I’ve had to deal with website downtime, and there was one snafu where my account number changed unexpectedly, and the website didn’t handle the multiple accounts properly. Any time I call for help, I get good responsive friendly help.
I have been with Progressive Insurance for about a year. I have yet to have a claim, so I am unaware of the claim service. However, I do know from talking to my agent that they have individual claim vehicles in my area and that they will come to you. My friend had a claim and they inspected her vehicle at her work without her having to be there. I am most impressed with the discounts I get. I like to pay mine off at the beginning of the payment period and get almost 20% off! They give me my cars quickly and can be reached by phone 24 hours a day. This is the best experience I have had with an insurance company to date.
I generally have a positive opinion of my car insurance company Progressive. Their rates are competitive with the major industry players. I check every 6 months when I renew my policy and it’s usually not worth it for me to switch. I’ve only had to file a claim once. I had my car broken into several years ago, and they attempted (but failed) to steal my radio, and broke my window to get in. I had comprehensive coverage and they not only replaced my window, but paid to replace the entire dash, which was scratched in the theft attempt. They cut me a check on the spot to get it replaced for over $1200. I was impressed and have been a loyal customer since, even faced with slight discounts from other competitors.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with progressive auto insurance. I have had two accidents, one my fault and the other was the not my fault. Progressive immediately setup for my car to be repaired in both situations. After the car was repaired from the first accident it looked good as new. After the repair from the second accident the car looked better than the original form.
Progressive is very helpful when getting quotes because of them displaying the leading quotes from other insurance agencies. You can see what you will pay when you sign up for progressive and how much you are saving by not using the other agents. In conclusion, I will most likely keep progressive as long as their rates stay relatively the same.
I was pleased with Progressive at first. I signed up for their EFT program where if you allow them to automatically debit your bank account, you recieve a significant discount. Well the rep who enrolled me did not set up the EFT properly and the following month, they charged ME a $46 fee for not being enrolled in the EFT program when the mistake was on THEIR end. They did credit SOME of it back but not all of it. I also requested new insurance cards to be mailed out to me and to this date have not received them, which was over a month ago. I did call them this week to find out where my new insurance cards are and the rep I spoke with said the last rep requested a copy of the policy be emailed to me but never requested new cards for me.
So far, I am less than displeased with their service. So with that being said, I’ve been driving around with a temporary computer print out of my policy in the event that I would get pulled over. We’ll see how it goes next month.
I started with a Progressive policy for my motorcycle over 10 years ago while my cars have always been with a different company (I think progressive either didn’t offer car insurance for me or it was too expensive, I don’t remember). About 3 or 4 years ago, I switched all of my car insurance coverage over to Progressive also. So far, I haven’t had any problems with them at all. My rates have been steady, although they did increase a bit when I turned 40. Claim wise, they’ve been pretty good. The only claim I’ve put in was for a cracked windshield. I was able to get most of my policy information online and scheduled a glass company to come out and replace it. It was completed without any problems or paperwork.
For the most part I like Progressive and am happy to switch to them as long as their price is the lowest. I have had some problems though. First is that their website is very difficult to navigate once you have gotten insured. Also I have had difficulty with them giving proof of insurance in the state my car is registered in as opposed to the state I am driving in.
I have been using Progressive auto insurance for a year now. I have had no problems at all with the insurance company. To me their rates are fair and I saved money switching from Geico to Progressive. It is all extremely convenient to use.
Everything is done right online. I haven’t had to talk to a customer service representative or sit on a phone since I made the switch. I was quoted online, received my temporary cards online and my payments are deducted straight from my checking account. Your packet and permanent cards are sent to you by mail, and if you ever need a document you can print it right up at your convenience.
I must say though, the only thing that kind of irks me about Progressive, is it is a six month policy. So every six months your policy expires you have to get new cards, and are risking your rates going up. I have had no accidents or violations since I have been with them, and after my first six month policy my rates did go up by two dollars a month. I always thought the older you get and if your violation free your rates should go down. This hasn’t made me want to switch from them though.
Their website is very easy to navigate and get quotes, they even tell you if there are recalls on the vehicles you have insured with them. All in all I would say this is a great and convenient insurance company to use.
I am extremely disappointed with progressive. I have been with them for 10 years and I was treated as if I was not a valuable customer to them. The customer service was horrible and dealing with my claim took forever. In my accident, the other driver was given a ticket and sited for breaking a law yet progressive decided that it was both of our faults just because they wanted both of us to pay the deductible. I didn’t even break one law. They do not treat you fairly.
I have been insured with Progressive for the past few months and so far I have been very pleased. I have not had to file a claim yet but when signing up they made the process so easy. The customer service rep was very polite and answered all of my questions and they also saved me $800 from my previous insurance company. I got my information in the mail in a few business days. The only thing I found confusing was the sheets they needed me to sign and send back because they weren’t clear about that on the phone. But once I figured it out it was really very simple and I was ready to go. I had my insurance card in the mail in just a few days and I was ready to go!
Progressive is the best auto insurance company to me. They are very quick. They come out within 24 hours to check the damages from a car wreck or any other claim. The person that comes out is always friendly and is there to help you. When you make a claim it is so easy. You call and then you go throuth the process. You normally get the money within 72 hours of the wreak for the repairs on the car. unlike other places it takes over a month. They will come to you to look at the damage no matter where you are at. They will call you and you tell them where you are at and they come out to you. That makes them the best in my eyes. I will contuine to use progressive for years to come. They are just really great. You can also change you policy 24 hours a day.
I’ve been extremely happy with Progressive. I did my definite fair share of shopping, calling every single insurance company I could find and different agents in the area. I’m saving $150 a month with a low $250 deductible than any other car insurance company with a $500 deductible. If I were to have a higher one with progressive I’d be saving even more! Not to mention the great prices I got, the service has been great I haven’t had to file any claim but I like to keep tabs on whats going on and if there are any new discounts to be had like the paperless discount that sends you emails of statements instead of paper statements. Saves $10 extra bucks a month! Every little bit counts!
My insurance company is really good when it comes to customer service but then again there prices are not as great as people may think they are. I have not been involved in an accident so I can’t say if there any help when it comes to that. When I first signed up they gave me my Id cards very quickly and I paid through the internet. I never had to speak to an agent more than once when I had a question. I prefer a company I don’t have to see in person and I like the idea of contacting me through electronic consent.
I bought a used car (2003 Nissan Maxima). I needed to get it insured so I went online and decided to look for a insurance company that would be affordable. I looked at a couple and Progressive looked the cheapest. I was amazed with my rate because on my old car I was paying $200/month but Progressive quoted me $75 per month. I insured my car online with a policy that would pay for my car if I crashed it at my fault. I used a credit card to pay and sign up for insurance. I got confirmation emails from them saying everything is all set.
A few days later I received a letter from them with my insurance card. About three weeks after I first insured the car I crashed it and totaled it. I was in a little shock about what had happened so I decided to wait a couple days before I deal with the company. I called them about it around two days after the accident and they informed me that I was never covered because payment on the credit card never went through. I talked to some guy with them and he said that there is nothing that they can do. They said I was never covered and I was driving without insurance all this time. I was outraged. I am going to hire a lawyer and see if I can sue them. I don’t recommend Progressive. They are cheap but in the end it’s not worth it.
I think overall I would rate Progressive as okay. I was involved in a fender bender and they took care of my claim quite quickly. They had someone come and assess the damages to my car the next day and my mechanic was paid in a timely fashion. The problem with them that I did have is when I called them for things like payments. It was hard at times to reach them. I don’t like to call a place and have to press 1 for this and 2 for that and then have to wait for a long time. Average wait was about 20 minutes for me. After that accident they jacked my premiums up so high it wasn’t even funny. I’m going to be finding a new car insurance company VERY soon.
