MetLife Insurance Customer Reviews
MetLife started as Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1863. Originally a disability, accident, and sickness insurance company, they eventually focused on life insurance.
Headquartered in New York City, MetLife is a diversified insurance company. They have expanded their original offering to disability, annuities, business, banking products, dental insurance, home insurance, and of course auto insurance.
MetLife has offered auto insurance throughout it’s long history – but not continuously. They seem to want to be a player in the auto insurance arena for now. If you have any experience with the company, please add to these MetLife Customer Reviews – good, bad, or ho-hum.
Just make it real!

I have had MetLife auto insurance for 4 years now. The agent was very friendly and helpful when I signed up. The rate is also excellent, since MetLife has an agreement with the company I currently work for. I also like the convenience of having my insurance payments deducted directly from my paycheck, so I never have to worry about missing a payment and not having coverage.
I did have an accident in March of this year and I was very impressed that MetLife fought for me and took my side. The accident was my fault, but it was a very minor fender bender where my car was barely damaged and the other car had no signs of damage whatsoever.
The other driver, however, claimed to have injuries resulting from the accident. MetLife took my side of the story, coupled with the minimal damage to her vehicle and made an appropriate pay out on the accident, rather than the exorbitant amount she was asking for. I appreciate that they stood up for me rather than paying out, then raising my rate.
I have yet to determine if my rate will go up, since I don’t renew my policy until August 2010. At that time, my opinion may change based on the amount my rate increases, but until then, I am very happy with MetLife.

I cannot get their claims office to answer phone calls. I left a msg which said I would get a response in two hours but it has been over two days. I have made numerous calls and I even have a claim # from my local agent. I will be changing insurance companies once this claim is settled.

I was with Met Life for years because they would deduct the payment from my wife’s pay check. Not only did we pay more than any body else on our block for the same coverage but when we filed a claim for my daughters accident. No other cars were involved and she didn’t receive a ticket but the damage came to 3,900.00.On the next renewal (2mos later) my policy was increased over the next 3 years. When i figured the differance from what I was previously paying the increase came out to be 3,800.00. So they really didn’t have to pay anything. What good is insurance if your going to have to pay for the damage anyway????? Needless to say we are no longer with them.
