USAA Reviews

United Services Automobile Association (USAA) was founded in 1924 by a group of Army officers. They’re headquartered in San Antonio, Texas. They sell auto, home, and life insurance to military personnel and their dependents. In recent years, they’ve begun selling to other government employees. The below USAA reviews are from actual customers.

USAA does not have an agency force, but markets their products directly to their prospective customers. If you have had USAA car insurance, leave a review about your experience, good or bad.

I’ve been with USAA since I started driving. I’ve compared offers from many other companies, and none have come close to beating the price. Their website is very convenient, you can auto-renew, print out new insurance ID cards, and change your information all online. They also offer a number of other services in the same space, such as banking, investing, and other types of insurance, as well as services like the Car Buyers program and New Home Owners programs. I’ve been fortunate to not have had many occasions to have to make use of my insurance, but the few occasions I have, it’s been a quick and easy process to get reimbursed. The paperwork (also available online) is very clear and upfront about what your coverage is. I’ve always felt like it was easy to find out exactly what I need to know, and know what I need to do, in an emergency situation. I believe they also offer roadside assistance, but I’ve never used it. Now, all that said, I do have one complaint. I still haven’t figured out how much to blame USAA for this, but it certainly wasn’t good. A while back I had a huge hassle with my car insurance. I was between jobs and money was tight. Somehow I messed up and forgot to make sure I had enough in my USAA account for my auto-payment for my car insurance to go through. So, I missed a payment, totally my fault. However, somehow I never got any kind of notification about this, either through phone, email, or even on their website when I logged in to use their other services. It just quietly bounced my payment, and then a while later, quietly CANCELED MY INSURANCE. I had no idea any of this happened until I got a notice in the mail from NYS that I needed to either provide proof that my insurance hadn’t lapsed, or turn in my plates and pay a hefty fine. I didn’t have the funds to pay a huge fine right then, so I was launched into a bureaucratic nightmare that took over a YEAR to fully clean up. NYS is serious about their car insurance. Overall, I am still using and would still recommend USAA for car insurance. Regardless of which car insurance I (or you!) use, I think the take-away is to keep a very, very close eye on those insurance payments.

I lived in Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina and switched to USAA after a poor experience with my old insurance company. A friend recommended USAA to me after he heard my horror story with my old agent in covering my vehicle’s extensive wind damage. He explained how fast USAA settled his claim so I checked them out. I was delighted to find that USAA’s premiums were lower. I like that I can adjust my insurance coverage online and I like that the representatives actually help me find ways to save money rather than trying to gouge me. The website is intuitive and I have not found any trouble understanding how to change my coverages. I discovered I could add roadside assistance for just a few dollars and a rental car in the event my vehicle is damaged and undrivable. The cost per policy period was under ten dollars. The roadside assistance coverage provides everything AAA provides for a fraction of the cost. I love the peace of mind this gives me knowing if I have a flat tire or run out of gas that all I have to do is call the number on my insurance card and arrange help. Since I had changed to USAA for my homeowners insurance, I qualified for deep discounts on my auto policy too. I highly recommend USAA. I have contacted their customer service folks for questions several times and they are always courteous and helpful. I have never had to navigate through the phone maze that other insurers use. Everyone who had USAA after the hurricane raved about the outstanding customer service and although I have not had a claim yet, I am completely satisfied with every aspect of their service. I feel safe and sleep better at night knowing I am protected by USAA.

USAA has been one of the few companies I have ever dealt with where I am not just some number in a database to them every time I need to contact them I don’t get a canned scripted answer to my questions. I always get a genuinely interested person who is willing to help in any way they can and to the fullest. Their rates are hyper competitive and and very reasonable they cover anything and everything you can possible imagine with a range of options to fit everybody and anything you could possible need.

Applying is easy and painless as it can all be done online same day no hassle and if for any reason there is a problem you can can connect to a live representative through e-mail, chat or by phone to assist you and as mentioned before their costumer service is a delight to deal with. After dealing with their insurance being top notch and meeting all my needs it actually inspired me to switch over all my other insurances to them and receive a discount by way of having everything bundled with them in the long run it ended up being cheaper than most fly by night insurance places that give you subpar coverage or hide things inside a bunch of legal talk and you aren’t actually covered for much if anything.

I can’t possible imagine dealing with another insurance agency after dealing with USAA and their team, their customer service and service in general has made me a lifelong member hands down.

I used a rival car insurance company for years, but then decided to shop around for a better price when I had my hours cut at work and needed to budget. My husband was in the military so we got a quote on our 3 vehicles from USAA. The USAA rate was about $40 a month cheaper than my old plan, and the cheapest rate for any company I compared to, and the USAA plan offers the same level of coverage as the other plans. I’ve now had USAA for about 2 years. When I recently bought a new car it was easy to switch out the old for new on the policy, I simply called customer service and they handled everything over the phone in about a 10 minute phone call. When I got a chip in my windshield, USAA directed me to a mobile repair company that fixed the windshield quickly and with no out of pocket cost to me. I would recommend USAA to anyone that qualifies via military service to have a policy with them. When I called my old company to cancel my policy with them the customer service representative even admitted that they can not beat USAA rates. My only complaint with USAA is that they do not offer home owners insurance to policy holders in my area due to hurricane risk. Despite this I am completely satisfied with their car insurance services and I feel confident that I have the protection on my vehicle that I need (and required by law) at an affordable price.

USAA is one of the best companies that I have ever done business with. I can always get someone on the phone, everyone is always extremely pleasant and extremely helpful. I can understand everyone because they are speaking English with no accent. I have roadside assistance through them and I always get help within an hour and within that hour I get updates through text of the status of the time of arrival of the help. I get money back at the end of the year because the company is owned by its members. All of my claims have been handled seamlessly with zero problems. I never end a phone call annoyed, frustrated or angry. I honestly don’t think there could be a better auto insurance company in existence. If there is I’d love to hear about it. I will never leave USAA. They will always have my business.

USAA has always been a great insurance company. I have had them for about 10 years. They have also been the insurance company that my parents have used. What I like about this company is that anytime I call them I have no issues with the customer service department. They are professional and really want to help. I also don’t feel pressured into purchasing other products, nor do I feel like another number when speaking with them. I really love the price of the insurance as well. I appreciate when a company does not jack up the rates for no apparent reason. I have had one claim with USAA. Compared to another insurance company that I have, the agents do not try to work “against” you but for you. My rate did not go up much after my first accident either. I think that insurance companies can learn from them, because they have had my business for so long and will continue to have my business because they actually cared. That is what I look for when I am looking for an insurance company. I hate when companies try to nickel and dime you out of everything that you paid for. I also love the fact that when I call USAA I feel as though I am speaking to a confident and helpful agent. I have even spoken with supervisors when my agents have given me the best service ever. The agents there are willing to help and want the best for everyone. I have also purchased other products because of how nice the agents there have been. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs insurance and wants someone that cares. I do not have a personal agent, but I don’t need one. My paperwork is easy to get to, and is always sent out to me when it needs to be.

I have been with USAA auto insurance for over 20 years, my parents started me on them when I began driving. For the most part I have been pleased with their services, I even added on renters insurance. I have only had to call on them a few times, but they were quick and easy to deal with. I had to have my car towed a few times, and they were easy to deal with and took care of it in a timely manner. They contacted the two company, then got back to me and gave me an approximate wait time. They were very close, and even made follow up calls to see if everything went OK, or if they could assist me further.

When calling they are very nice, and they go through great lengths to keep my account secure. This usually involves my identifying myself with account #, passcode, SSN and a short quiz of public knowledge they pull up. It can be annoying when I am in a rush to go through the question session, but it is nice to know they are working to keep my account secure. USAA has a nice website layout where you can handle much of the business. I usually take care of all my transactions through the website. They also have an app, but I prefer to go through the full website which is laid out a bit better and easy to see. USAA also sends email notices if I am late or behind a payment, this has been very helpful when I forget or get really busy. I have also set up automatic payments through the site, which is very convenient.

I have my car insurance with USAA. I have held my policy with this insurance company for roughly 8 years and have no plans on switching in the future. My husband is also on the policy. Between the two of us, we have been in 3 accidents. Out of the 3 accidents, we were found at fault for one and not at fault for the other two. Despite being found at fault for one of the accidents, our rate did not increase. He has had a handful of tickets, and that has never caused a rate increase either. We did contact USAA for all three accidents and never ran into any issues with them. They were great at helping us receive the compensation we were entitled too from the other insurance companies that were involved. We were never charged a fee for this, even when those other companies were not wanting to be cooperative. We have moved out of state numerous times and have always quoted other companies when a move took place. No one else has ever been able to come close to the amount USAA charges us. The customer service department is always friendly when we call them, and the hold is never unreasonable. Their website is always working well, and in a timely manner. It is easy to navigate and offers many helpful features. I have always received my new insurance cards via email, but it is also easy to find and download from their website. They have a very user friendly app that I love having access to. Between their great customer service, website, app, and competitive rates – I highly encourage everyone to contact them about their insurance needs to see what they have to offer

I currently have auto insurance through USAA. Compared to other companies i have used, they have the best rates in my opinion. My policy is much cheaper with the same amount of coverage. As far as professionalism and promptness when i have a question or concern, they provide excellent customer service.

A few months ago my windshield had been cracked, the glass was replaced within the same week with only minimal out of pocket expenses on my part no questions asked. USAA is great to work with especially if you are on the go. Your account is accessible online or via mobile app. Your policy/proof of insurance is also available online for you to print whenever you need it.

Overall i highly recommend USAA, they offer a good service and also have a great reputation among military members and their families. The prices are reasonable and they go above and beyond to make sure the claims process is smooth and painless. There is no hassle or continuous calling in to check the status of a claim. The agent will contact you instead. They walk you through all the steps needed to get repairs done and make sure you are satisfied. USAA makes having an issue with your car a less stressful situation then any other car insurance company. There is no other company i would consider switching to in the future. USAA does not seem to be one of those companies that tend to rip people off. They are honest and actually care about their clients.

I am extremely happy with USAA as my car insurance provider. The rates are very good and the service is outstanding. I have three cars insured with them, and due to my high opinion of them I also have my homeowner’s policy and a life insurance policy with them. I have been a customer with USAA for 25 years and have great peace of mind knowing they are there if I need them. Although I have only filed a few claims in that 25 year period, each time that I have the service has been outstanding. The answered all my questions and help guide me through the process. The claim was paid very quickly and fairly. In addition to claims service, I also have roadside assistance with my policy and that has been invaluable on several occasions when I have either locked my keys in the car, needed a jump start or had a flat tire. With my wife and two kids also driving regularly, it gives me great security to know that if something happens assistance from USAA is just a phone call away. Our son will be out on his own in the next few years, and I will strongly encourage him to obtain his car insurance through USAA as well. I receive all kinds of mailings and other marketing materials trying to win my business for my car insurance needs, but I would absolutely not consider switching from USAA. I recommend USAA without reservation to anyone looking for outstanding service and low rates.

I really like USAA as my insurance company. When I first had insurance with them, they were very friendly, and they didn’t mind all of my questions. I also really like how they walked me step by step through the entire process of applying for insurance with them. I didn’t have to do anything, they input all of my information for me. This made the process easy, and less stressful for me, which is a big plus.

Their insurance rates are also one of the best I have seen. I can always count on them to give me a fair and low insurance payment. I have had insurance with them for about five years now, and I would never switch to anyone else. It doesn’t matter when I call, they are always friendly and ready to help. This is one of the most important things for me, because if they aren’t friendly then I won’t want to have insurance with them. There have been a few times when I have asked a question, and the representative didn’t know the answer, however he/she would always put me on hold to find the answer.

I also feel like USAA goes above and beyond to help me, and make sure that I am taken care of and satisfied. Recently my car broke down for no apparent reason. I wasn’t paying for roadside assistance, but I called USAA to see if they could help. They informed me that I actually did have roadside assistance with them, and they would be there to tow my car a soon as they could. I didn’t have to wait long at all for them to show up, and as usual they were friendly, and cared about what was going on.

I am a legacy member of USAA – my parents became members when I was in my early teens, based on my dad’s service in Vietnam. I’ve only ever had USAA auto insurance, and after more than 20 years, I have nothing but praise for their customer service and coverage. My husband and I have been fortunate never to have had a major auto accident, but my husband learned to drive in his 30s and had a few “learning accidents” in the first few years he had his license, some which required some significant body work. The claims process was as seamless as it could be following an accident: the auto-body shop they worked with was conveniently located and one we would have used anyway, and the inconvenience of being without our car was minimized due to the generous and conveniently-arranged rental vehicle coverage. When I purchased a pre-owned car from an out-of-state dealer last year after an internet search, USAA helped me figure out different options for ensuring I had access to the funds needed to pay for the car outright (I was not interested in financing), even though I still needed to negotiate the price of the car after seeing it and comparing it to another option at the same dealership. Adding the new car to my coverage was also seamless. A few people who are USAA members have told me that, while they do all their banking with USAA, they’ve shopped around and have been able to find lower auto insurance rates with other insurers, but I would not trade the excellent USAA customer service for minor savings – it is worth the price.

I am currently insured by USAA and have had nothing but positive experiences. I recently purchased a new vehicle but decided to keep an older vehicle just in case. I called USAA and wanted to explore options to reduce the cost of insurance while maintaining multiple vehicles. Rather than trying to sell me on an expensive insurance policy, the customer service representative worked with me to find multiple discounts that I was eligible for.

In addition, she also was able to give me excellent advice on how to reduce the coverage on the older vehicle since it was driven rarely yet still being legally compliant with my state laws and regulations in regards to insurance coverage. This was great because in the end my policy only went up approximately $40 while I was afraid I would be spending a tremendous amount more. After getting all my policy and coverages squared away the customer service representative emailed me the cards so that I had them immediately.

Now that service alone would have been more than satisfying, however USAA went out of their way to call me back soon after making the changes to my new policy. I was called and informed that an additional discount was missed and needed to be added to my account which would change my policy. Great! It went down another $9. Maybe not a lot but over the course of 6 months it definitely made a big difference that I was more than happy to accept. Overall, I have been pleased with all interactions with USAA car insurance and would recommend them to all my friends and family.

I have been a customer of USAA (United Services Automobile Association) for almost 30 years now — since I was 15. I became a member because my father was a member of the military and had USAA and was able to pass the coverage on to me and I’ve done the same with my daughters.

Over the years, I’ve heard many people complain about the costs of auto coverage and I never really understood why, until they told me their rates and I compared them to mine. By far, USAA seems to beat every other insurance carrier in cost, customer service and fairness. My deductibles and premiums are low and are probably around 15% lower than most of my friends. I use their website to pay my insurance bill and it is extremely easy to use. I can’t say that I enjoy paying my auto insurance bill, but at least USAA has provided a slick and easy way for me to do it.

But, when I recommend USAA to friends I’ll usually relate to them a car buying experience I had around 8 years ago. I was in the market for a used truck (a cowboy has to have a truck) and I went to a car lot that was close to my house. They showed me a truck that I fell in love with. It was $23,000 in slightly used condition and I decided to call USAA and ask how it would affect my insurance. The operator on the phone was super nice and asked me what the car dealership was telling me the price would be. After he heard the 23K figure, he asked if he could talk to the dealer. In about 6 minutes, the dealer gave me back my phone and I talked with USAA. He had talked down the dealer to sell me the truck for $14,500. In 6 minutes, USAA saved me $8,500 and the operator did it just because he didn’t want to see me get taken advantage of.

I will recommend USAA auto insurance to anyone. Not everyone will qualify, but if you can — do it. You’ll be a happy customer for life (by choice, not necessity).

I’ve had my car insurance through USAA for around ten years now. In that time, I’ve had a minor accident and a more serious accident. Each and every time, USAA was quick to respond and very easy to deal with. Their customer service was kind, sympathetic, and helpful. Claims were settled quickly without a lot of hand wringing on my part. As a busy person, I don’t have time to continually call and keep on a company to do what I’ve already paid them to do. With USAA, I never had to do that. It’s rare for me to feel like a company is efficient and reliable, but USAA meets that expectation easily.

Paying my bill every month is also very easy with their well-organized online site. There aren’t a lot of complicated screens, and everything is clearly labeled.

Probably the only real complaint I have about having car insurance through USAA is that in all the years I’ve used them, one month last year I was a single day late getting my payment transferred over. Because of that mistake, which was a mistake on my part, they made me pay the entire rest of the year’s balance right then and there. As a loyal customer of many years, cutting me a single day’s slack would have been nice. But since there was only a few months left in the year, it wasn’t much money, and I just paid it without issue.

So, I’d say that wasn’t a horrible experience, but it was slightly annoying. Overall, I’d recommend USAA for car insurance in a heart beat. They are a company that I’ve had almost no issues with and that is rare.

This is a company for military officers and their families. It has all of the integrity you would respect from individuals who were officers and gentlemen in our armed forces. My father was an Army officer and it is because of his service that I am able to get USAA insurance. I was on my father’s policy as a teenager and I have had my own policy with them since 1978. In other words, I have had USAA insurance for all of my adult life. I value USAA for their integrity, support, and professionalism.

For example, several years ago, my daughter was involved in a car accident and was sued by the other driver. USAA represented us fairly, even though the limits of our policy were quite small compared to the amount of the lawsuit. Through the efforts of the lawyer hired by USAA, our liability was found to be only for the vehicle, not for the wrongful claim of injury and mental distress. I use USAA for all of my property insurance needs.

Their customer service is awesome–they are always unfailingly polite. There are no judgments made, no “tsk tsks” because you’re reporting an accident. The first thing I was asked when I reported the last accident was whether I was injured and if I was all right. I’ve never had to make a claim on my homeowner’s insurance, but I’m not worried about my coverage. I know that USAA will be fair and professional if I need to make a claim.

I’ve been with USAA starting on my parent’s plan since I was 16 and bought my first car. They’ve always been incredibly fair when it comes to premium, and for someone who is younger, I appreciate that!

When I was 17 I was involved in an accident that was my fault. The damage wasn’t bad; I simply pulled someone’s bumper off. I called USAA up and reported the claim. I had a $1000 deductible at the time, but they waived that, paid out, and my insurance never went up oddly enough. Additionally, over the years I received 2 tickets that never really impacted my rate either. Working in insurance, I find this to be a bit perplexing, but at the same time I’m not going to start complaining about it! I’m currently paying less for two cars with full coverage than most of my customers who are older, but have clean driving records. I’m currently under 25 and expect my rate to drop a bit further once I hit that peak.

I recently purchased a new vehicle. Calling them up to have it added was completely painless, and they did it while I was on the phone with them. I also had some issues with billing and the customer service representative took the time to break everything down for me so we could see where the extra amount was coming from. Additionally, they even offered to split up the payments into just about any way I wanted, though that wasn’t necessary. I have been lucky enough to not have to contact them very often, but it’s always been a pleasure when I’ve had to make a call. It’s always been quite clear that they really value their customers.

I have USAA auto insurance and I love it. When we were in a fender bender they helped us immediately over the phone. Filing a claim was so easy. Their preferred repair centers are all very nice. They handle the payments so you don’t have to do anything. They took care of getting repair work done and made rental car so easy to obtain. It is always easy to call and ask questions and they are always so polite over the phone. They offer discounts for using multiple services and they give yearly dividends to their members, which I love. The prices are competitive. Compared to other companies, their customer service really is way better. They offer online access to the auto insurance policy which makes it super easy to get quotes, buy insurance, add or remove cars, change coverages, review your policy, print insurance id cards whenever you need them, and make payments through their website. They also offer a phone app which is very convenient. I would not change my auto insurance company, even if I had to pay more. USAA is definitely in its own class when it comes to service. I have never been treated better by any insurance company ever. Even for someone filing a claim against a USAA member, the experience is easy and the service is top notch. My husband used another company before we met and now totally loves USAA and would not switch for any reason. We are so happy with USAA auto insurance and couldnt imagine anyone who wouldnt feel the same way. You should definitely get USAA auto insurance coverage!

USAA is the best insurance company in my opinion. Their people who work in their customer support department are extremely nice and helpful! It is always a pleasure speaking with them on the phone.

A few years ago the window of my car was broken out and my stereo was stolen. They actually sent someone out to my office to repair the window that day! I didn’t have to worry about getting a quote for the repairs – they handled everything for me. They also ordered and installed the stereo that was stolen as well. I have totaled two cars while being insured by USAA. I believe the settlement amount was extremely fair and probably much more than I would have gotten if I sold the car myself before the accident.

Some people might be weary of a company that doesn’t have local offices – they are based in Texas. I assure you that I’ve never had a problem handling everything that I need to over the phone. They do have local agents on site at several car repair places in my area. It was actually exciting to meet someone from USAA in person! USAA handles all of my insurance and banking needs.

My husband bought the diamond for my engagement ring from them as well. You can get discounts on car rentals, flowers, and various other things by being a member. I can’t imagine switching to a different insurance company for any reason. I have been a member for the last 16 years.

USAA is the most affordable, best, and helpful auto insurance company that I have ever had. I have had USAA now for about seven years and I have never once been disappointed with their service.

First, lets talk about price. I’m a male in my mid 20s so auto insurance rates are high among all companies, but USAA continuously quotes me $100 a month cheaper than the next cheapest company. They also have many different and cheap add on features for your account such as road side assistance and 30 day rentals in case of an accident. These extra services cause cents extra each month and have come in handy many times.

Customer service, USAA has some of the best over the phone customer service that I have experienced. They are also polite, speedy, and helpful. I had the misfortune of getting into a couple of accidents and USAA’s customer service team was great. They got me set up with a rental, and got my car repaired with very little effort. I have also totaled a car and same story, I quickly go a rental and got money to buy a new car within 8 days.

USAA is also a great company because they offer various types of other services such as checking accounts, savings accounts, home loans, auto loans, personal loans. Essentially, they are a super bank that works hard to benefit service members. I have 7 years history with USAA and I have no intention of changing companies any time soon.

Several years ago my husband got a job working at USAA so of course being inclined to see the advantages of having his job cover all of our insurance needs seemed logical. Since the very beginning of our service with USAA they have been prompt and helpful with us each time we have had anything we needed changed or generic questions as we purchase new vehicles or move to a new home.

Their rates are competitive; however there are several things about USAA that, given the opportunity, we would change. First, in order to be able to be eligible to scan our checks right into our bank account we have to have a credit card. I don’t like having to have a contingency on a benefit that should be free just for having services with the company. Second, USAA has never been lenient on any types of over drafting, which I understand but even if they are the ones at fault for the overage issues they will not retract their charge. We had an issue with a teller once not putting our money into the right account which resulted in us being charged for an overdraft and although they did put the money into the right account several days later, they never took off the overdraft fee.

Given these small things that I don’t really like about USAA for the most part their services are excellent. I like how easy their website is to navigate and how accessible they are 24/7. I would definitely recommend their services to veterans nationwide.

I have been a member of USAA for 30 years. I have never once thought about looking elsewhere for car, home, renters, or life insurance. They cater to military folks, so in order for you to become a member, you must have some affiliation with the military, although family members and descendents of military folks also qualify for their services. USAA is consistently ranked highly by Consumers Reports and other business publications for low fees, quality service, and high customer service satisfaction. I have never felt the need to get a second opinion on premium rates, because I am confident that I will get no better rates or service from another company. The only claim I submitted was for some lawn ornaments that were stolen from our front yard, which were covered under our renter’s insurance policy. USAA settled the claim immediately to our complete satisfaction. We have never had an auto accident, but I have used our “towing reimbursement” rider on our insurance policy to get towed several times over the last 30 years when our car broke down. All it takes is one phone call to USAA to set up the towing service, which is completely covered under our auto insurance policy. I have also added our adult daughter (18 years old) to our policy, and the policy premiums only increased slightly from what our current rates were. I know several factors are at play in setting premiums, one of them being good grades in school (she’s a straight A student), but I thought our premiums would have gone up much more than they did when we added our daughter. I was pleasantly surprised!!

In all truthfulness, I’m rather indifferent towards my auto insurance company, USAA, perhaps a little positive. Personally, I loathe cars and car insurance. I don’t see the need to pay so much money in repairs, taxes, fees, registrations, titles, and insurance only to drive a few dozen miles per week. I actually stated this concern of mine to my representative, and he laughed and said he agreed.

After this, he reviewed my file, told me that honestly I had nothing to worry about (I have no priors, no accidents or tickets), just go for the absolute minimum to avoid any tickets in the future (and obey the law). I told him I was going to be leaving the country in a few months, and he said ‘don’t worry about it’, and incorporated the storage fees into my current insurance plan. The reason I’m rooting for this team, and not some other, is because my parents vouched for them. My mom, dad, stepmother, sister and I all have the same insurance agent, and we can include each other on our plans with very little hassle. We tell stories and have jokes and whatnot, and he generally makes the experience a little less gruesome than any other insurance company.

However, I usually let my insurance lap a few months out of the year, just to stick it to ‘The Man’. Seriously, I shouldn’t have to pay over 1,000 dollars per year just to drive my car 30 miles a week (I do half of my work from home).

We have not been with USAA for very long but in the time we have been with them, we have had our car stolen and the agent that helped us was very nice and seemed to genuinely care about what had happened. SInce something like this has never happened to us before we relied on the agent to help us out and to guide in what to do next. It made the entire process so much easier and, despite the circumstances, quite pleasant. Not that we want our car stolen again but if it did then I would want the same agent again!

I’ve insured with USAA for about 29 years. I have had mostly positive experiences with their service. Their rates seemed to always be either the best that I could find, with a full-service insurer, or close enough that I didn’t see a reason to change, given the amount of times that I was changing my home due to service-related transfers. So, given all of the positive experience that I have had with USAA, I would rank them highly in all areas of auto insurance. There is one caveat to my time with them, and it is so huge that I can not give USAA the highest rating, that many years of good service would normally accord.

While living in Florida, I flew to California, rented a car there on which I purchased full insurance coverage at the time of rental, and then totaled the car in a collision with a bridge. Since the accident didn’t seem to involve my insurance company, as far as I knew, I didn’t report it to them. The vehicle was covered under the rental insurance I had purchased, and despite the fact that the car lost the battle with the bridge, I came out with only broken legs. My medical insurance at my job covered the medical expenses, and that seemed to be that.

I missed 6 months of work, though, and went through all of my sick leave and vacation, thus ending up on short-term disability. Several months after I returned to work, while talking with a co-worker about the whole ordeal, he asked me whether I had been reimbursed for my sick leave and vacation time, and for the lost wages that occurred due to the shortfall between disability payments, and my normal work income. I asked him how I could get that done, and he said Florida auto insurance policies are required to have a Personal Injury Protection (PIP) rider, and that PIP coverage included those provisions, among others.

When I got home and read my policy, sure enough, he was correct. I contacted USAA, reported the incident to them, and waited for my check to roll in. It didn’t… I contacted a rep on the phone, and asked what was holding up my claim. They said they’d check, and be in touch. They weren’t. It took me about 9 months of wrangling, writing, and threatening them with legal action, to get reimbursed for about $21,000 of benefits.

At two levels of customer service, regional and nationwide, USAA told me that I was NOT eligible for reimbursement, and they gave various reasons stretching from “your PIP coverage only applies within the state of Florida”, to “your PIP coverage only applies in your insured vehicle”, to “you waited too long to make a claim”. There were other attempts at denial of benefits which I have forgotten. It just shocked me that, presented with what seemed to be a valid claim based on the contents of all that garbage that they print in the policy, USAA would kick and scream and drag their feet with such gusto, in an attempt to avoid paying a claim. It was a huge disappointment to me.

USAA is a good insurer, and I still prefer them above most others; but regardless of who you insure with, be aware that some people in the hierarchy are not always interested in playing a fair game with their customers. For many years, I thought that that was not true of USAA, but I know now that, unfortunately, it is.

Even before I was old enough to drive or fully understand auto insurance, USAA was able to make it clear that they were a great company. They regularly give back to the community and support the local economy quite well, supporting various events and doing a lot of charity work. Once I began driving I realized they fight for me specifically as well.

One time another driver hit my car in a situation that was entirely their own fault. I made the mistake of not insisting on getting a police report, since I thought it was quite clear that with my car not even moving, it was not my fault. I got in touch with the other person’s car insurance company and began discussing the issue, quickly realizing that they were trying to blame me in part for the accident. I contacted USAA to explain what really happened, sharing that I suspected the other person was exaggerating or lying to try and shift the blame. They contacted the other person’s insurance company and essentially fought for me. Eventually they agreed to send out an inspector to look at my car and took photographs as evidence that my car was not moving and I was not at fault.

Because of USAA I ended up with no responsibility for the accident, which is a big deal in my state where even 1% fault means that the cost is split 50/50. It seems any time I have an issue, USAA is happy to help and they provide plenty of tools, support, and just promote being an all-around great environment to be a part of as a customer.

I adore my insurance company USAA. Every time I need to speak with someone on the phone they are always polite to me and address me with respect. When I call them on the phone they never make me wait on hold long. They quickly get my call to where it needs to be and often times don’t waste my time having me explain what I need to multiple people. They will instead take the time to pass on the information if they need to transfer me.

I had to make an insurance claim on my auto policy to get my Audi repaired. They made it quick and easy for me. The repair process was streamlined for me and even guaranteed by USAA not just by the repair shop. My deductible is not that expensive in comparison to the rate I pay or would be expected to pay with other companies so arranging for the repair was even easier for me to do.

Whenever I’m in a bind and need a copy of my insurance card they are very quick to fax it right away to me or I can access it easily myself. I’ve used my road side assistance coverage multiple times and they are always very quick to answer my call. They quickly dispatch a local company to provide service to my vehicle regardless of why I need roadside. Checking on my progress during the process is easy as well.

I use this service often from my auto insurance policy and it is very affordable to have. They have very good rates and will keep me as a customer for life.

Using my father’s advice, I signed up with USAA a few years ago under his plan. He previously served with the military for over 24 years and have only used USAA. I on the other hand, have used other companies trying to find a happy medium between service and price and was so far disappointed. When I initially signed up for USAA, I had just purchased a new car and their rates were considerably less than my previous insurance plan prompting me to finally make the switch.

Actually making the switch was much easier than I imagined. I was also offered all my families current discounts. After some time, I was able to switch from my parents account to my own account. I have since started my own family and have added my wife in the same plan.

Over the years, I have purchased many cars, averaging one a year, and the service and ease they have provided have kept me from “price shopping” elsewhere. With their addition of the USAA website, it has only made paying bills, changing coverage, and receiving proof of insurance so much easier. The ability to pay in full or use different payment options have saved a lot of time. I have been completely satisfied with this company and am extremely pleased with the level of service they have provided. I have never been on hold when placing a phone call to the company. I doubt I would ever consider switching from USAA to a competitor when it comes to my insurance needs.

With their combination of great service, competitive pricing, and customer friendly website, they have gained a lifetime customer.

I love my policy with USAA! I have been with them now for over five years, and they have been nothing short of amazing! I love the fact that they are able to cover me and my vehicle when overseas just as they do when I am stateside. Not sure of many other companies being able to insure in a different country!

Customer service is very courteous over the phone, and no question or job is to tough. I have had to have them fax/email me my insurance cards at a moments notice, and they have never failed me. I get nice discounts with them because I also bank with them and have renters insurance through them as well.

They are also really good at cash back for changes or unused insurance (not exactly cash back, but money credited to your account – I have gotten money back switching polices). They are always looking out for the customer, I am not just another source of money flowing in; and for me, that speaks for itself. I would and DO recommend USAA to all of my family and friends….they are insurance rates are the best of the best! It is a shame they only do business with workers of the government. Looove them!

I could never say anything bad about them they are perfect. Nine days late on a bill and they don’t even mention it. Fell two months behind because you lost your job and they keep covering you with no penalties.

Got into an accident and they assign one person to handle your case the entire time, even if it takes months. The prices can’t be beat. I get calls from other insurance companies trying to sign me up all the time. I’m always looking for a great deal so I let them have a shot. After they ask me who my current insurance company is the call is over. I tell them I have USAA and they just stop, they say that they can’t do any better. I don’t even need to tell them how much I’m paying they know its so low. 140 dollars a month for a twenty two year old with a new car and five hundred dollar deductible. Full coverage, glass replacement on every window, underinsured, no insurance for only 140 dollars. That even includes free towing for twenty five miles.

If you break down or are in a wreck you can get a tow anywhere not just to a shop. To your house, down the road or even to a friends house who know how to work on cars. I was rear ended on the freeway and called them right after the police. They sent out a truck and told me I could take it to any shop I wanted and they would cover it till the other guys insurance started paying. I was so happy my car was getting fixed immediately because the other guys insurance said it would take a month to even review the accident let alone start cutting checks.

I’ve had to use almost every part of my insurance policy one way or another and haven’t been disappointed yet. They have earned a lifelong customer from me twice over.

I’ve been a USAA customer for as long as I’ve owned car insurance. Despite insurance companies claims to save you money by swiching to them ie geico, I don’t trust it enough to even call around. I called another insurance company once and their quote came no where near as little as I was paying with USAA for what I had. Nonetheless, their customer service has never disapointed me either, staff always seem very professional and courteous. I have filed a couple of auto insurance claims with them by now and feel like if I had to ever file one again I can do so without much worry or stress.

USAA has the absolute best customer service that I’ve ever experienced. They are polite, prompt, and courteous. They have never overbilled me or had any other billing issues. Thankfully I have not yet had to file any sort of a claim with USAA, but I am very confident that if/when I do have to file a claim with them, that the process will be smooth, fast, efficient, and very satisfactory.

I feel that the price that I pay, although slightly higher than some other insurance companies, is well worth the added benefit I get in the form of extra protection, as well as the sense of security that I derive from purchasing insurance from an upstanding and well-rated company. If anything, my experience with USAA has caused me to consider purchasing more products from them (home insurance, life insurance, small valuables insurance, rider policies, etc.)

The best part about my USAA auto insurance is that I get discounts every year that I go without a bad mark on my driving record, and if something were to happen to my vehicle, they’ll buy me a brand new replacement vehicle – not just give me the replacement cost for my existing vehicle. Additionally, they do a great job of covering rental vehicles, which is excellent for me since I travel often for work. That alone has saved me tons of money, since I don’t have to worry about buying the absurdly overpriced insurance policies that the car rental companies offer me.

Since I met my husband we have both used USAA for our car insurance which has been about 10 years. They have yet to disappoint us and every year I do check their rates against competitors. I have always found them to be very competitive with their rates and the one time I discovered a cheaper rate they matched it no problem.

Another great feature is their website has everything I need to understand, review or change my policy. It is laid out simply and they even have an app now for our phones for times when we need information away from home. I never hesitate to call their customer service with any question as they are always so helpful and always available. Over the years we have added and removed a few drivers from our policy and that process was so easy. The few accidents that we have had, we have never had any problem with the claim process or the repair process. The nice thing is they will handle everything for you so quickly, send out an adjuster to see the damage and give you the option to choose your own shop or use the one they choose. Pick where you want to go, get the estimate and they cut you a check. It seems to me their deductible process is very fair compared to companies I had in the past. I love that the rate to have a rental car if needed is only a couple dollars more to our policy which is so worth it.

Highly recommend USAA for car insurance and their other products as I use them as well! Great company, great customer service!

I believe that I have one of the best car insurance companies in the world. USAA is always more than willing to help me whenever I call them. They send me my insurance cards on time, and if there is ever any problem they are always eager to work with me to get it resolved. I have 2 relatively new cars, (2011 and a 2010) with full coverage of them both. I also have a driver who is under the age of 25, and I pay less than two hundred dollars a month total for both cars. I checked and most other companies wanted me to pay over two hundred and fifty dollars a month.

I have been in two accidents since I switched over to USAA, one accident involved me hitting a deer, and the other my daughter ran into the garage door. Not that much damage was done to each car in either accident, but USAA was helpful in both incidents. My deductible was paid and a check to get my cars fixed was sent right away. It was the best customer service anyone could ever ask for.

There have been times when I have lost my insurance card or cards have they were more than willing to send me new cards. USAA also has a very user friendly website. I use them for my car insurance, bank account, and home insurance. It is a 5 star company all across the board. I will never trust another company with my family.

My experience with USAA insurance has been extremely satisfactory. I began seeking new insurance after I was married. My wife and I were looking for a very inexpensive rate, which was difficult due to the nature of our driving histories. We tried State Farm, Geico, Nationwide, and several others – every time receiving rates that were out of our budget.

After being recommended to USAA, I spent a brief amount of time on the website and found it to be much more user-friendly than the websites of any of its competitors. Finding my rate was very quick and easy, and they offered us a rate that was less than half the rate that any competitor had offered us. We called immediately to set up our insurance plan, and the people we spoke to on the phone were very friendly and helpful.

Unlike most insurance companies, I didn’t feel that they were just trying to sell me additional things. They were very kind and not pushy, and they made the entire experience very enjoyable. Since setting up our insurance plan with USAA, my wife and I have had absolutely no problems. Paying our low bill every month is very satisfying, and I’m able to do it quickly from my bank account or debit card. The USAA mobile app lets you view all of your account information and even pay your bills on the go!

Choosing USAA was the best insurance decision we’ve ever made, and we never plan on switching providers. We highly recommend USAA to all insurance seekers!

My husband is a retired Ohio National Guardsman. We live in Ohio and have had USAA insurance for over 20 years. Recently, my husband and daughter were in an accident involving a drunk driver. They were hit from behind, causing significant damage to our car and sending both of them to the hospital.

We were advised from the police that the other drive was uninsured. We were expecting a headache when dealing with the insurance aspect. We contacted USAA regarding the accident. The agent was extremely polite and supportive on the phone. She assured us that USAA would handle everything. And they DID!. By the next night, we had a rental car delivered to our house, our car was repaired within 2 weeks by a local car repair company. Our medical bills were all handled in a timely manner.

I have been with USAA for 28 years and they have been a great insurance company. I was able to get on board with them due to my military service at that time and have never had an inclination to switch companies.

I have had 4 claims with them over the years and their customer service has been outstanding in every case, a credit to their corporate culture. They have been quick to process the claims, and have paid without any delays or problems at all. I had an accident with my work van and the rep that was on the phone with me got the tow truck to me very quickly, and the claim (a total loss in this case) was paid within a couple of days. In addition, the other driver’s company came after me to pay a huge loss on her vehicle even though she was at fault, and USAA was there advising me the entire time after the accident.

Did I mention premiums? Well, I have received MANY quotes over the years for insurance on no company has come within 20 percent of the rates I pay, in fact many agents simply don’t bother quoting me when I tell them 2 things: the rate itself and the fact that I’m with USAA. Agents representing other companies have often complemented USAA as being a very good company with rates that are hard to beat.

I made a good choice to go with USAA and I highly recommend them if you can get on board with this company for your car insurance.

My mother had used this company for almost 20 years with no issues and at a great price but the minute I had a car accident while on my parent’s policy all hell broke lose.

My boyfriend was driving my car when he tried to make a legal u-turn on a 2 lane road and we were t-boned by the driver behind us. At first USAA seemed very concerned and helpful but it quickly went bad.

Mainly the claims representative said she was sure the other driver was at fault but once she saw the pictures she claimed we had LIED to her about the situation because the OTHER driver had swerved to the left rather than the right. I really have no clue how that has any relevance on the accident but she said it repeatedly. She then got in a huff because she had to get clearer photos from the other driver because mine had not turned out well. We finally were claimed as being the ones at fault because in Nevada you’re not allowed to move slightly to the side before making a u-turn. That is entirely untrue and no where does it say so in any Nevada driving code. This women just pulled it out of her bum and went with it and we had to pay the 500 dollar difference.

I will never work with this company again.

USAA is a very good car insurance company that I have used for a very long awhile. I am very happy with USAA. I have never had any problems with them, and where I live the winters can be harsh on cars. Their roadside assistance, which covers anything from tows to a mechanic’s shop to getting a jump or getting your keys from your locked car, is a lifesaver.

Their rates are quite fair and their representatives are extremely helpful. When I sold my car after it broke down, they offered me an insurance policy that allows me to drive other people’s cars so as not to have a lapse in my own insurance coverage. Switching insurance policies from one car to another is a very painless process with USAA, and the costs you have incurrec with the current policy will carry over to the next one.

USAA’s staff are very helpful. They have a dedication to service to members of the military, and they provide this service very well. They have consistently been rated the higherst in customer service and are a private company. This means that there is no shareholder pressure to maximize profits while screwing over the consumer, so costs to use this service will likely remain low. In fact, I have heard that they actually return some of the profits to the customer when there is a particularly good year, although I have not seen this.

I will continue to use USAA barring any unforseen consequences or any major changes to their structure of business practices.

I have been with USAA through 35 years of driving and hope they will be there for me as long as I have a car to insure. I can’t think of a better insurance company, and I have worked in the property & casualty claims business for 25 years. In those 35 years I have only had 1 claim, and they handled it to my complete satisfaction.

There are so many commercials for auto insurance talking about price and service, but every time I get a comparison quote it is higher than what I am paying now. The service is unbeatable too: whatever level you are used to, USAA seems to have it. You can deal directly with a service representative, work through electronic mail, or use their web site like I prefer. They have a convenient telephone system that allows most transactions as well.

The payment plans are convenient too; you can stretch a six month premium out without any service charge. USAA is a member-owned association which is different than most auto insurance companies. I think that is one reason that the premiums are so competitive. The company periodically distributes money back to the customer from their Subscriber’s Account which makes the premium saving even more substantial.

The customer base historically was military officers and senior enlisted rank, and the culture of the company was one that gave high respect and service to the customer. At least that was my experience. As the eligibility as broadened, there has not been any erosion in the quality of that service. I’m glad that my daughter has her car insured with USAA, and would encourage anyone to compare their prices with what they are paying now.

I just signed up with USAA today so I haven’t experienced anything bad. All I know is they were very friendly, they don’t work on commision and they are BY FAR, the least expensive I have heard of!! State Farm wanted $225/month for my husband and I. Progressive quoted us $325. And USAA is $101/month!! No brainer. My father in law has had them for years and haven’t heard of any complaints. When the lady gave me my quote today I thought I was dreaming. I have been shopping over the Years and Not once was anything close to USAA. I’m very happy and I surprised my husband with the good news and he’s so happy with me for signing us up!!!

I have insured with USAA for almost 30 years. They handled a broken windshield claim, and an accident by my wife, and I was very happy with their service and rates. The service agents with whom I spoke throughout most of my years with them have been wonderful. I highly recommend USAA to everyone.

With that recommendation in mind, I want to forewarn everyone that there are times when an insurance company misconstrues, misrepresents, and outright lies. Much to my surprise, this happened to me, with USAA. I had a Florida policy, and I went to California to see a friend. I rented a car at the airport, and I signed up for the rental agency insurance coverage because I was in a hurry, and the agent would NOT stop pushing it. So I bought it, and ran. I wrecked the car a few days later, and barely escaped with my life. Since I had purchased the agency coverage, I did not involve USAA in the situation.

About 9 months later, I was finally able to go back to work. I was speaking with a colleague about the accident, all the work I had missed, the use of all my sick time and vacation time, and the subsequent experience of living on short-term disability income. He asked if I had spoken with my auto insurance agency at all, and I told him that I was trying not to do so. And then he said that I should be reimbursed for ALL of the sick time, all of the vacation time, and the amount of income I had lost by being on disability. The coverage was some sort of lost income thing, and it was a mandatory part of auto insurance coverage under Florida law.

I spent about 8 months, fighting with USAA to get them to pay what was supposed to be paid. They claimed that since I was driving a rental car, that my policy wasn’t in effect. They claimed that since the accident happened out of state, my policy wasn’t in effect. They made several other attempts to deny me my coverage, all of which were incorrect interpretations of the policy and situation. I was persistent, and they were intractable. I finally got them to cough up the $21,000 when I sent a letter summarizing my arguments on the letterhead of a legal firm.

USAA, in my opinion, is a great insurance company. But do not ever assume that they are perfect. I was lucky that my co-worker was knowledgeable about insurance, enough so that he got me headed in the proper direction. I was just completely floored by the attitude of the regional manager, who refused to accept the reality of the policy until he was threatened on legal letterhead.

I still recommend USAA, but urge everyone to be as aware as possible of the contract stipulations, and to press your case when you believe that you are correct.

USAA, is probably the best one that I could ever hope to have. Being that I am in the military and do a lot of moving around for my job, there are a lot of changes that come up on my policy in conjunction with a move. Since USAA has a primary customer base of military members and their family, they are well versed in dealing with these situations and dealing with them well. When I transfer duty stations and have to change my policy to comply with the new state I am moving to they are very receptive, friendly, and even eager to help do what I need to have done.

On the subject of friendly, I don’t think I have ever not been received on their phone support by a representative on the other end that genuinely sounds happy and more than willing to help me, a refreshing change in today’s world. I have also had the misfortune of being in a car accident but once I made the initial call to USAA to see what I needed to do to have my vehicle repair, I was again pleasantly surprised when I would get daily phone calls to see how I was doing and asking if there was anything that they could be doing to help. Not only was there genuine concern for my health and well-being, there was also constant updates on my claim process and what the next steps were, again, this was them calling me, not me having to wait on hold and pry information from them.

All in all I would highly recommend USAA if you are eligible, they are just the most proactive and hardworking insurance company that I have ever dealt with, their rates are the lowest that I have found, and they genuinely care about you and take pride in all that they do for you.

I have been fortunate to have access to USAA’s auto insurance though my father’s military service. USSA is only available to military service men/women and their children.

Not long ago I graduated from college and it was time for me get my own auto insurance. I began getting quotes from many of the auto insurers such as State Farm, Geico, the General, and many more. I ended up choosing USAA over the competitors. USAA offered the best rates and was still able to deliver a great service. For the price I pay for USAA’s auto insurance, I think I would feel inadequately covered at another insurer.

With my current plan I have perks such as accident coverage, road side assistance, and even more. The times I have spoken with USAA customer service representatives, they have treated me in a very respectful and professional manner. They were able to rapidly set up my auto insurance for two vehicles.

I have moved a few times, and each time they quickly moved my insurance from one state to another. To make the deal even sweeter, as I add more of their services my auto insurance rates drop.

So far, with the added services other auto insurers just can not compete with USAA. I plan on being a USAA member for life, being only 27 years of age they will hopefully have me for many years to come. If you have access to USAA I would highly recommend you look into their auto insurance serve.

I currently have USAA for automobile and renter’s insurance. I am very pleased with them.

I have called them numerous times when buying and selling vehicles, to change coverage plans, and to ask general questions. The customer service representatives are always very friendly and helpful. They do not rush me off of the phone and always ask if I am satisfied with USAA’s services.

They offer discounts if you have more than one type of insurance with them, if you do direct payments, if you have multiple automobiles on the policy, and if you have completed a driver’s educational course recently. Due to all of the discounts, I was able to insure my second vehicle at no cost to me. While my husband was deployed, they allowed us to park one of the vehicles that required full-coverage insurance and they reduced my payments down to practically nothing.

I have not compared rates in roughly 3 years, but I am so satisfied with USAA I do not see the need to even consider switching. When I did compare rates 3 years ago, USAA was the cheapest option for my family. I give them a solid 4 overall and individually on rates and services.

I have never had to file a claim, but I have used the free towing that came with my insurance policy. They were friendly and helpful when I called to request the tow truck and they dispatched him quickly. Insurance policy cards are automatically emailed and physically mailed to me a month before my current card expires. I think that it is the little touches like those that make me so impressed by USAA.

USAA has been a great auto insurance for my family. I have been in quite a few accidents over the years and they have always come through with providing a substantial amount of money when my car has been totaled. One accident occurred when someone made an illegal u-turn into my car, pushing me into another while I was driving straight. Everyone told me that it is very difficult to be considered “no fault”, even when you had no control over the accident. USAA considered me to be at no fault and wiped away by deductible, which is only $500 to begin with.

USAA really proved themselves though during Hurricane Sandy. My car was parked in zone B, but the flooding went past where they thought it would and flooded my car. Only the carpets were wet, but my entire electrical system was ruined and it was salt water. Some other insurance companies were NOT totaling people’s cars even though salt water erosion can be extremely dangerous over time. USAA had an adjuster/appraiser come out within a few days and totaled my car right away. They also gave me more money for my totaled 5 year old car than I could ever imagine. I was so grateful.

They handled the process and had all the money for the claim sent to me within a two week timeframe, despite all the hurricane sandy claims that they had. Their customer service team in the total loss department and the regular car insurance department was always there 24/7 to answer all of my questions and handle my claim as quickly and smoothly as possible. I have had only positive experiences with USAA and would not think about changing my insurance.

My auto insurance company is USAA. This is a fantastic company to be insured by.

First off, their service is excellent. Their website is easy to navigate and has answers to most, if not all of your questions. For questions that the website does not answer, or if you want personal service, they have excellent phone representatives; best of all, short hold times when you call. Their service reps really go out of their way to make sure that you are satisfied.

In the unfortunate event that you may need to file a claim, USAA has excellent claim service. My wife was hit by a deer one week after buying her new car. USAA set up towing to a shop of our choice (although we could have used their selection if we wanted to) and arranged for all service to be completed. We had to do nothing. In addition, they had a rental car waiting for us that night, even though it was late. At no time during this process did any money leave our hands. USAA handled everything and get us up to date on the process. They called us at every step of the way.

On price USAA can’t be beat. I called around to compare prices and USAA was at least 10% lower than any other insurance carrier. In addition, they offer numerous discounts to further lower your premium. And best of all, every year my premium goes down. For those of you that qualify, I highly recommend that you get your insurance through USAA.
