The Required Shreveport Car Insurance Isn’t All Inclusive

Research what the required Shreveport car insurance covers don’t assume you are fully protected.

shreveport car insurance

The required Shreveport car insurance doesn’t have enough coverage to protect you from all stormy driving situations.

We love our all-inclusive resorts when we go on vacation, we get to pay once price and then get access to everything that we need while we are there. Unfortunately we don’t get the same all-inclusive awesomeness from the required Shreveport car insurance.

No Intentional Claims

If you cause an accident on purpose, your Shreveport car insurance company will not pay the claim.

If you purposely total your car because you are behind on payments or want a new car, you are out of luck. Once your insurance company finds out that it was done on purpose, they will deny your claim. And don’t think that they will pay your claim without question, either. Claims adjusters are trained to look for certain pieces of information that indicate that a claim needs to be investigated further.

Also, any acts of road rage can be considered causing damage with your vehicle on purpose. So if you lose your temper and use your vehicle as a weapon, your claim could be denied.

No Damage Coverage

The specific coverages that are required by the State of Louisiana for you to be able to drive do not cover damages that are caused to your vehicle. You have to purchase additional coverage to protect your own vehicle; otherwise you will have to pay for the damages out of your own pocket.

No Medical Coverage

There is also no medical coverage to pay for your injuries or the injuries of anyone in your vehicle under the required Shreveport car insurance. You can purchase separate coverage that will pay for medical bills, or you can also leave it to be paid for by your health insurance company.

What Does the Required Shreveport Car Insurance Cover?

The Shreveport car insurance that is required by the State of Louisiana only covers your liability to another party. Specifically, these coverages are:

  • $10,000 for bodily injury to one person
  • $20,000 for bodily injury to more than one person
  • $10,000 property damage

So if you are ever in a car accident and you only have these coverages, your Shreveport car insurance company will pay for the damages and injuries of the other parties.
