I have been insured with Alfa Insurance for almost 15 years, and I’m relatively content with their service. The biggest draw for me is that the company focuses on relationships: I’ve had the same agent ever since I signed up, and if I have a question about my policy or need to make a claim, I have the ability to pick up the phone and talk to him, if not right away, within an hour. There’s no hassling with a national 800-number or trying to communicate with an agent who doesn’t understand or speak English very well; I can count on being able to talk to someone who can help me. Alfa Insurance isn’t necessarily the cheapest, especially when compared to bigger national companies like Geico or Progressive, and I have to admit that there are times when I consider switching to save on premiums. Ultimately, though, it comes down to the fact that Alfa provides superior service and customer care. I’ve only had to make one claim in the time that I’ve been with the company, and it was as smooth as glass. There was no bickering over what the insurance company would or wouldn’t pay for, and I was able to pay for my car repairs without worrying over whether or not the cost would be approved. One minor drawback is that Alfa is currently only based in the southeastern United States, I believe, which may be one reason why they’re able to provide one-on-one service. If I chose to move out of one of their service states, I’d have to find another insurer, but since that’s not an issue at the moment, I’m going to stick with the company that I know and trust.
