AMICA is known to have a good reputation and they charge some of the highest rates for insurance in the industry. I thought this would be an indication that their service would be one of the best and that I didn’t need to worry about them being there for me in a time of need.
I could go on and on about the benefits of being with Amica, the customer service, knowing when you have a claim, you will be taken care of, etc… But the best advice I can give you is to just test Amica out for yourself. Don’t take my word for it! I’m not sure why Amica gets such high ratings. They’re so much like the other auto insurance companies I’ve used.
I had auto insurance with Amica for several years. I’d had no traffic violations or accidents of any kind when I scraped the side of my car in front of the door against a column in my garage and made the mistake of calling to ask a question about body shops. This was a fairly small scrape. They called it a 6-point accident. Even though I said I just wanted to ask a question, they still put it in their system as an accident (and I’m still kicking myself for calling … big mistake.). I had to go the vendor of their choice for the repair, which was done well and quickly
. Then my rate went up about 30% for one year and went back down the year after. But the next year, 3 years after “accident,” the rate went up 200%!! I’d had no further incidents and no traffic violations, plus have a very high credit score. I called and asked why the huge increase, but all they could point to was my “accident.” I was told that I should look at my car insurance coverage as if I just had “catastrophic” coverage. While I realize that point of view is fairly standard in the industry now, I don’t think that was dealing in good faith.
When you call for a quote, they have older women talk to you about Amica’s insurance (and I’m an older woman, too) so it kind of feels like you’re talking to grandma. You’re not! CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS THE KEY TO RUNNING A SUCESSFUL BUSINESS— DO THEY NOT TEACH THAT ANYMORE??

I work in insurance so I am well aware of the good and the bad with insurance. My auto insurance I’d with Amica, however, and they are the best company I’ve ever used for car insurance. They are incredibly customer focused. If you need an id card, you get it in minutes.
I had a glass claim some years ago.I noticed after a rainstorm that my windshield was cracked below the wiper. I was going to the dealer for some work and I called in the claim. They arranged to have the dealer replace the windshield sight unseen. I paid for the claim but in less than two days I had a check. I have often said I hope they dont go into comml insurance.
