    I have car and house insurance with Grange. I had heard about them from a friend, that said she’d had them for years, and the price alone couldn’t be beat. Plus, they had always treated her nice, on top of it.

    I used an insurance broker to find me the best deal on insurance rates. Being I’m on a fixed income, I needed to save money, with no COLA raise for SS, for the next 2 years (at least).

    By using a broker, they did all the hard work for me. I wasn’t checking emails or taking notes on rates and such. He did it all for me.

    I was amazed at the price, compared to what I was paying, with a company I had had for over 20 years. And they were raising my rates, with the next bill. When I let them know I was cancelling, THEN they said they would lower my rate to what Grange was offering, to keep me as a client. I said “”no thanks, you missed your chance at keeping me as a customer.”"

    They take my payment right out of my checking acct, every month. Every month, I know the day it will come out, with no worry of it being one minute late, and being canceled. Every month, they send me a new schedule of payment cost for the next few months. These are easy to read and understand. They have easy online access, if I need to change something or report a problem.

    If I have an accident, I just call my broker who can handle it, or Grange. The choice is mine. Same goes for my home insurance. They also took into consideration, that I had a newer roof, new electrical work, dead bolts, new furnace/AC and hot water tank. Little did I know, things like this can lower your rate.

    I recently had to add my son to my car insurance. The cost was fantastic, no complaint on that. Within a few days, the new papers arrived in my mailbox. They are fast.

    I bought a bundle insurance package with Grange three cars and the house, when the well collapsed they told me I had a potential claim when the insurance adjuster spoke with me and the well workers he could not get the information straight and continued to ask the same questions over and over giving me the impression he was stalling till he could figure a way out of paying the claim.
    With two hundred thousand dollars of bundled insurance they would not pay a five thousand dollar claim, that tooka week with no water for two weeks. I am looking for insurance now with a name I can depend on. Mike

    An insured of Grange rear ended me. In trying toresolve this matter we had no desire to involve an attorney. Maleen and others in the claims department treated my case less with good customer service and more like we were adversaries. This caused me to now seek representation rather then try to resolve this on my own.

    Grange is a responsive insurance provider with very competitive rates within its industry. I’ve investigated my auto insurance rates several times against a whole host of competing companies and found their rates to be far and above less expensive.

    Upon discussing my rates with an agent, I’ve found that by varying the amount of coverage per accident and per person, I’ve been able to obtain a comparable rate. In my case, I was counseled that by increasing my deductible that I could lower my premium (and I appreciated that the sales representative that I deal with was willing to share this kind of information).

    Grange’s website has an online billing capability that also gives their customers easy access to pay all their policies; however, the user is forced to remember the amount of the bill upon entering the billing interface. Otherwise, I’ve found that its very easy to find the section of the site where payments are made, and then complete the online payment process. I’ve never had a claim with Grange, but I have worked with them in servicing my other insurance needs.

    Grange’s representative has been responsive to my billing concerns, and has reevaluated my rates on several incidences in response to my requests. While progressive, state farm, gmac, and the like claim to give favorable rates on their web-based advertising, I’ve always found that their rates are less than overwhelming. I would recommend Grange to my friends, and have done so, solely based upon their excellent customer service.

    Never having had a claim with them, I have yet to (and hopefully never will) be witness to their claims department’s practices. However, the company’s perceived strengths and competencies in the areas of billing and customer service are reassuring to customers who are often treated indifferently by other servicers.

    Paper bills sent by the Grange are typically complete and accurate. They do not seem to include a lot of additional advertising or verbiage that would be wasteful or environmentally irresponsible. It is important to me that companies not waste large amounts of paper as part of their billing practices.

    At 75 years of age, Grange Mutual Casualty Company is a billion dollar plus provider with a tradition of serving the needs of 13 different states. I’m glad that they service mine. Their website describes their vision of a hassle free experience for the customer; from my perspective, they’ve achieved that goal.

    Daughter just got rear ended by Grange insured driver. It was a multi-car situation but my daughter had stopped without hitting anyone. The Grange insured driver hit my daughters vehicle so hard it drove her into the person in front of her. That person drove off (likely no insurance). Now Grange won’t pay until they can reach that person….but guess what? They refuse to answer calls. Look out if you are rear ended by a Grange insured motorist. They look for every way not to pay, any based on comment above, we’ll probably be in court, too.

    My mother was recently hit by someone insured under Grange and the car was totaled (it was the other driver’s fault). The car was paid off and had all the maintence needed for the next 100,000 miles, but Grange initially offered us just less than $2200. My parents can’t afford to make car payments because they are helping pay for my college and I am already taking out loans, and now Grange has screwed us over and wants to offer us a laughable amount. Don’t support a company that treats people like this, and if your ever hit by someone with Grange, contact an attourney right away.
