Playing Safe Plus Scottsdale Car Insurance

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 05/28/2014

Scottsdale car insurance isn’t the only safety game in town.

Keeping traffic flowing and drivers out of financial trouble.

Keeping traffic flowing and drivers out of financial trouble.

We all know that having Scottsdale car insurance is a safety net to protect us financially in case we ever get into a car accident. Yes, we are forced to purchase it if we want to drive, but it is still there to protect us nonetheless.

Another safety net for Scottsdale drivers that you may not know about is the ITS.

Playing Safe with Traffic

The ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) is who Scottsdale drivers have to thank for making traffic adjustments to ease congestion. They control the traffic signals, the traffic message signs, and communicate with the media to get public messages out about traffic situations.

They basically help to redirect or improve the flow of traffic if there is congestion from a traffic accident, a weather event, special event, or is just a heavy rush hour. By controlling and trying to keep traffic flowing, they are actually helping to decrease the traffic accidents that happen when traffic gets backed up.

From the scottsdaleaz.gov website, here are some of the other benefits that ITS provides for drivers:

  1. Reduce traffic incident delay – when collisions, spills or stalled vehicles occur, signal timing can be immediately adjusted to reduce the delay.
  2. Pro-active traffic management through work zones – reducing those frustrating construction zone delays.
  3. Roadway safety is enhanced by enabling immediate detection and reporting of incidents to Police Department, Emergency Services/Fire, other agencies, the media & public.
  4. Event Traffic Management – costs are dramatically reduced by centralized traffic management as opposed to many police officers at various locations.
  5. ITS enables Scottsdale to hold travel time on City streets steady, and where possible, even reduce travel time as traffic volume increases due to growth.
  6. Reduction or prevention of traffic congestion
  7. Environmental improvements
  8. Reduced fuel consumption

Playing Safe with Car Insurance

While you may not have the power to control traffic flow in Scottsdale, you do have the power to control the financial fallout that results from a car accident, by carrying car insurance.  Well, you have the power to voluntarily control the financial fallout from the damages to your vehicle and your passengers, because the State of Arizona actually requires you to protect other drivers with the following care insurance coverages:

  • $15,000 bodily-injury liability for one person
  • $30,000 for two or more people
  • $10,000 property-damage liability

Kick Off the Summer With Lower Car Insurance Rates

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 05/24/2014

Lower car insurance rates in the summer means more fun money for you.

lower car insurance rates

Begin your summer by finding lower car insurance rates.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Summer has officially begun in our hearts, even if the calendar says that it is still spring.

For many of us, summer means a lot more driving and enjoying our vehicles because the weather allows for safer and more enjoyable driving conditions. So why not enjoy your vehicle even more this summer by finding ways to pay less for your car insurance premiums.

Ways to Lower Car Insurance Rates

If you just keep renewing your car insurance policy over and over again, it is definitely time to review what you are actually paying for on your car insurance. So while you are enjoying your three day weekend, pull out your policy and take a good look at what coverages you have on your vehicle or vehicles.

Here are some questions you need to ask yourself while you are looking:

  • Do you have vehicles that you are paying more in car insurance premiums than they are worth?
  • Do you think that you are missing discounts that you feel should be there (multi-car, good student, multi-policy, good driver, etc.)?
  • Has your car insurance steadily increased each renewal, but you haven’t had any accidents or tickets?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, write down your concerns and talk to your agent when their office opens again on Tuesday. If your agent can’t help to get your car insurance premium down, then it is definitely time to start looking for a new car insurance agent that can get you a better rate.

Keeping Premiums Level This Memorial Day

While you are trying to get your car insurance premium down for the summer, don’t go and do something silly this weekend that would cancel out all of your hard work in trying to get your premium down. Obey all traffic laws to avoid getting a ticket that will increase the number of points on your driving record and would result in a premium increase. Also, avoid causing a car accident that your car insurance company would end up having to pay for, that would also result in a car insurance premium increase.

Here are some Memorial Day tips to follow that will help you avoid starting the domino effect that ends in higher premiums:

  1. Avoid drinking and driving
  2. Take your time going to where you need to be, no speeding
  3. Wrap and secure food that is travelling to a bbq, so that it doesn’t spill or burn someone and distract the driver
  4. Remain calm when you discover a flying, stinging insect in the car. Pull over and then commence freaking out until they fly away
  5. Watch for children playing in the street while they are out of school for the holiday weekend
  6. When driving out of town, be extra vigilant on the streets that you are not familiar with

Don’t forget to have fun this weekend also, so once you have given your current insurance policy a good review, put it aside and tackle the changes that you need to make on Tuesday.

Saving Money with Irving Car Insurance

Written by Michele Wilmonen. Posted in Research Last Updated: 05/19/2014

It’s actually more expensive to drive without Irving car insurance.

irving car insurance

Your Irving car insurance may actually be cheaper than the financial aftermath of not having it.

No one likes paying for something that they are being forced to purchase, and for most people Irving car insurance is the first thing that comes to mind when you bring up a topic like this. Many drivers see this as an inconvenience and as a part of their outgoing budget that is wasted money for what they are getting in return.

But, did you know that in most cases it is cheaper to get Irving car insurance than to be caught without it?

Initial Irving Car Insurance Cost vs. the Ticket Aftermath

Per insure.com, the average cost of car insurance for a driver in Texas is $1,620 a year. This works out to be about $135 a month.

Now, if you are caught without Irving car insurance you can expect to pay a $382 fine from the City of Irving.  This fine is higher than getting caught speeding, driving without a driver’s license, running a red light, failure to wear your seatbelt, and most of the other traffic violation fines that the city can penalize you with.

For the State of Texas, the fines are even worse. You can expect the following if you have no car insurance:

  1. First offense: fine of $175 to $350
  2. Additional offenses: fine of $350 to $1,000, suspension of your driver’s license, and impoundment of your car
  3. Offense without a driver’s license: $2,000 maximum fine, 180 days in jail, or both
  4. Offense if you cause an accident with serious injuries or death: $4,000 maximum fine, one year in jail, or both.

(Source: Texas Department of Insurance)

The bad news for drivers that drive without car insurance is that the above are just the fines; that doesn’t include the increase in car insurance premiums that you are now going to have for avoiding having Irving car insurance in the first place. And you can sure bet that your new car insurance premiums are going to be a lot higher than that $1,620 annual average that everyone else pays.

Irving Car Insurance Coverage

Just in case you weren’t sure what the minimum Irving car insurance is to keep yourself from being fined, here you go:

  • $30,000 in bodily injury liability coverage for each injured person
  • $60,000 in bodily injury liability coverage total for multiple injured persons
  • $25,000 for property damage liability coverage per accident

Your Irving car insurance agent will make sure that you have at least the minimums to keep you out of trouble, so you don’t have to worry about getting insurance and not having enough.
