Amica Customer Reviews

Amica customer reviewsIt may be one of the nation’s oldest insurance companies, but Amica is still focused on customer service above everything else.

Amica started out as the Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of America in 1907. After over 100 years of expanding the company and adding new insurance lines it is known today simply as Amica. The company was founded and still has its corporate offices in Rhode Island, as well as additional offices across the country in 40 different states.

Amica has earned quite a number of awards for each of its insurance lines, including 13 years straight of winning customer satisfaction awards from J.D. Power and Associates for their auto insurance division.

Don’t go with this company!!! Been a customer for manyy ears.I tried to take my daughter off my insurance but they refused. My daughter had one accident and my husband and I have a perfect record for over 10 years. My daughter has moved out and lives with her friends. She took her stuff and we took our keys. The representative would not allow me to talk to the manager but was happy to cancel my policies. I guess the don’t need my business!

Although I haven’t had to submit a claim yet, I’ve had solid service from Amica. I use them for both home and auto insurance. The coverage for my auto policy is comparable to what I’ve had with previous providers, and the price is competitive.

What I have liked best so far, is that I’ve received strong personal attention. When I started shopping for quotes, I submitted my info online on the Amica website. Once I saw that the price was competitive and I decided to purchase the policy, I was contacted by a person over the phone. This is my dedicated contact person. It’s nice that for a company this large, I have one person that I can call if I need assistance. I have spoken to the rep multiple times so far, and he has provided excellent customer service. He’s thorough, and efficient. It makes me feel good to know that I can call him if I need help. Aside from that, I like that Amica offers all of the same online services that other providers offer. I can view and alter my policy on the Amica site, and I can pay there as well. I choose to pay through an automatic draft, as Amica offers a discount for that. They also offer the standard discounts that other providers offer (safe driving, multi-vehicle, bundling policies, etc.). The only drawback I can think of, is that they do send me junk mail (not email, physical mail).

They send these weird “magazines” that have articles about insurance. I’ll be honest: they go straight into my recycling bin! Aside from that small thing, they’ve been a great company to do business with so far.

I have been insured by Amica for the past 16 years. I chose this company since my mother was also insured by them. Many people don’t know about them, but I think that is slowly changing. I notice more and more television ads from them. I am glad that they are growing. I thought it would be a good idea to share one of my experiences with them. I was stopped at a red light coming home from work. I was rear ended. My car then set off a chain reaction. The car in front of me drove off. I was then sued by the car that the driver who fled the scene hit. This caused me a lot of stress and worry. Not to mention, that I was injured the most of all the drivers. One night I got a knock on the door. The driver two cars in front of me was suing me. I thought this meant months and months of stress. I called up Amica the next morning. They told me not to worry. They would handle it. This was years ago. I have not heard from that person who sued me since. Amica did an amazing job. Not sure what they did. But, they made sure I didn’t have to deal with a lawsuit. When you are the real victim, it is refreshing to see your insurance company protect you. Amica also managed to get the driver who hit me to compensate me for my injury. All it required was a quick interview at my home with Amica. Overall, this is a great company that sincerely cares about it’s customers.

I changed insurance companies to Amica after being with State Farm for over 10 years. I didn’t change because of anything State Farm did or didn’t do, but because Amica was rated just as highly by JD Power and Associates as well as the Better Business Bureau, had a AAA+ credit rating, and was several hundred dollars cheaper between three policies: two cars and a house.

I first learned about Amica from Consumer Reports. It was rated as the best car insurance company for people with a clean driving record. Amica only insures low risk drivers, so that is how and why they can keep their premiums so low. Other companies, like State Farm, insure some high risk drivers, which drives up everyone’s premiums so as to cover for those drivers’ accidents. Some prospective shoppers might be turned off by the fact that Amica typically doesn’t have traditional offices and does most of their business over the phone, by email or the web, but that’s never been a problem for me.

I have had only one claim in my time with them (for a chip in the windshield), and it was handled quickly and professionally. Actually, because it was just a chip, they didn’t even make me cover the deductible so the repair was free! Any other time I’ve called with questions or to change something on the policy, I’ve gotten fast, friendly and professional service. I also like the fact that I can pay in installments without an extra fee.

I have been with Amica for about 20 years now, and can honestly say it has been a great experience. All of the basics are covered with this company: online account access, 24/7 agent availability via both phone and chat, a mobile app for account information and reporting a claim, and great customer service. One unique feature of this company is that you have the option to pay a higher premium for the policy and then receive a dividend check at the end of the year based on the performance of the company.

Each year I receive a dividend that results in a much lower overall premium that many competitors offer. Something to note, Amica does not have in-person locations or agents, so this is something to be aware of if this is important to you. I had a minor collision that essentially totaled my car, and as my first major accident I had no idea what to expect or how to proceed. I called Amica from the scene and they calmly walked me through everything. They located a nearby body shop I would need to take the car to, and when I arrived all my information had already been provided and a rental car company had already been contacted.

They kept in contact with me through the entire process, and I received prompt payment for the vehicle when the car was deemed a total loss. It was a smooth process during a pretty stressful event, so this is a great example of why I will remain a customer with Amica.

I first signed up with Amica due to the significant difference in price between the coverage they offered and the price for the same coverage from my previous insurance company. I was able to apply online which made it more convenient for me and when I did talk to a customer service representative on the phone later, she was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the company’s products.

A few months ago my son had an accident and since he was covered on our policy, we had to contact Amica to inform them of the accident. They were very easy to deal with and there really was not a lot that we had to do other than provide them with information about the accident and the parties involved. On two occasions we have purchased cars that we had to insure before leaving the dealership due to the laws in our state. In both cases, we were able to reach Amica by phone from the dealership and arrange to have the required documents faxed to the dealership so we could drive the cars home. Although the process was a bit lengthy, it was handled professionally and we were happy with the results, especially considering that one purchase was completed on a weekend day.

Amica’s rates are very competitive and I have not found any companies that are able to beat their rates for our coverage. They have been prompt with changes we have requested and always send the required documents without delay. Overall, I am quite pleased with Amica auto insurance and would recommend it to others.
